With the Royal wedding a few days away, most people are in a little bit of a wedding frenzy!!  Every bride and groom deserves the wedding of their dreams.  Always remember you are the most important two people on the day.  With the right team of people behind you, e.g. your venue, florist, photographer and of course cake designer, it will be amazing.

At Bluebell Kitchen we always recommend a wedding cake Tasting Consultation which is booked on an appointment only basis, where we can discuss your thoughts and ideas about your wedding cake, look at your colour schemes, the design you envisage, discuss the best display for your cake so that when you look back on your special day you think:

…..“wow” it was everything we hoped it would be and more

The best part of any wedding cake consultation is the cake tasting, especially with a glass of fizz!  Popular flavours for a glorious summer wedding fit for a Royal couple might be passion fruit and raspberry, coconut and blueberry or peach melba.  We think there will be a growing trend for elderflower and lemon after 19th May aka Royal Wedding Day, but how about trying elderflower and pink lemonade for something a little different!

The growing trend is a buttercream finish, just like Meghan and Harry have chosen!  This can still be designed to your theme, imagination and of course colours and is most definitely not a naked cake!!  For a glorious summer wedding you might like the addition of flecks of gold leaf or handmade sugar lace.

Flowers can finish your wedding cake beautifully, this might be handmade sugar flowers or fresh flowers.  If you choose sugar flowers and we mean stunning, hyper realistic sugar flowers from the traditional delicate white roses to bright, vibrant Birds of Paradise they provide a luxury finish to almost every style of wedding cake.  We always work closely with you florist to ensure that the sugar flowers match your wedding bouquet.

Of course, fresh flowers are just as gorgeous, but be aware that not all are suitable to add to cakes and a good cake designer and florist will know this.  Why not try organic, edible flowers?  We think this is the best option for fresh flowers on your wedding cake and we always get ours from the amazing Maddocks Farm Organics and Greens of Devon.

Whatever style of wedding you choose, we’re sure you’ll be watching Meghan and Harry closely on Saturday, whilst we will be more interested in their wedding cake!

The pair design, bake and decorate cakes for weddings, celebrations and corporate events across London and the South East.

Winners of the Kent Wedding Awards 2015 – Wedding Cake Designer of the Year.  The Judges described Bluebell Kitchen as working very closely with their couples and they loved the idea of Tasting Weekends.  The judges said that the five tier floating flower design at The Natural History Museum, London was a real show stopper and most importantly couples feedback was excellent.
