About Us

Your Wedding Cake Makers:

Erica & Charlie, mother & daughter, designer & foodie

Bluebell Kitchen was born out of a fascination with sugar flowers. Having been keen bakers for years, we attended some courses together for fun, and fell head over heels for the detail, skill and imagination required to create lifelike petals and stems. We were hooked and kept challenging each other to take on more complex and innovative designs. Fast forward to today, and we’re wedding cake makers renowned for our sugar craft, creating abundant and wild floral adornments for our mouthwatering cakes that stop people in their tracks because they look so real.

We’re proud to have won the Kent Wedding Awards – Wedding Cake Designer of the Year 2015 (whilst still working part time) and been finalists in The Wedding Industry Awards. The two of us make a great team. For starters, we know each other inside out and can often see what the other is thinking. We complement each other’s creativity, push each other to be the best, and manage not to drive each other barmy in the process. Most importantly we truly love what we do, and getting to play a part in our couples’ happiest days is an honour we don’t take lightly.

Meet Erica

A lover of Parisian style, long train journeys and elegantly whimsical interior design (ask her about her walk-through Narnia bookcase!), you’ll find Erica in the garden in Springtime and at the ballet at Christmas.

Meet Charlie

Charlie believes that every day should start with chocolate buttons, and would happily live at the V&A if she could. A movie buff with a penchant for everything from gritty horror to total cheesefest, you could once hear her dulcet tones as the welcome message for the Dallas Theatre Centre, Texas.
