How to Ganache and Ice Your Cake


Love baking, but haven’t had much success in ganaching and icing your delicious cakes?  This class is the perfect introduction for you to learn and feel more confident in ganaching and icing your celebration cakes held at our studio in Maidstone, Kent.

You will learn to split, fill, ganache and ice your cake in a professional style.  This will be followed by creating gorgeous simple sugar flower decorations including handmade petunias, blossoms, buds and leaves under the expert guidance of Erica and Charlie.  You’ll be amazed at what you will learn in one day and gain the confidence to recreate all these techniques at home.

You will learn to:

  • Split and layer your cake (baked in advance for you) with homemade buttercream and jams
  • Make and use our delicious ganache recipe to create a flawless undercoat to help achieve a sharp edge finish
  • Ice your cake professionally using sugar paste
  • Use different types of smoothers to work on a sharp edge finish
  • Make simple handmade sugar flowers to decorate and finish your masterpiece
  • Flawlessly ice your cake board

You will take home:

  • Your finished handmade cake to enjoy with family and friends
  • Detailed baking and ganache recipes
  • Tips and portion guide in order for you to recreate your own bakes at home

Please note:  This is not a baking class.  All cakes will have been baked by Bluebell Kitchen in advance ready for you.

  • Timings: 10 am – 4.30 pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for coffee and a chat.
  • Price: £99.00.
  • Class size: Max 4 students.
  • Location:  Bluebell Kitchen Cake Studio, Maidstone, Kent.  Once booking is confirmed you will receive directions to Bluebell Kitchen by car or train.

You don’t need to bring anything, we will provide all tools, cake boxes and equipment including aprons!

Drinks, light lunch and delicious snacks will be provided.  Please inform Bluebell Kitchen of any dietary requirement/ allergies prior to attending the class.

In the unlikely event that Bluebell Kitchen has to cancel your class, including if we do not have the minimum number of students booked onto that class, we will offer a full refund.
