In our opinion your wedding cake tasting is one of the most fun and enjoyable parts of your wedding planning process. We believe it’s right up there with choosing your dress! Yes, we really do. There seems to be a general assumption that the wedding cake’s there to look amazing, but no one eats it.
Not true!
That’s exactly why joining us at your wedding cake tasting consultation is so important to get the flavours, design and size of cake just right so that you know your guests will be excited to devour your wedding cake, no matter how bold, stunning and stylish it looks. It also gives us an opportunity to get know you and understand what you’re looking for in order that your wedding is unique to you.
What is a Tasting Consultation Weekend?
Held on specific weekend dates at our cake studio in Maidstone, Kent we want to offer you a truly personal “appointment only” cake tasting experience.
We’re not the type of cake designer who meets you at a hotel lobby for a quick chat and hands you a box of cakes to take home. Your wedding cake tasting consultation is a key part of your planning process and we want make you feel as though you’re the only couple we’re making a wedding cake for.
Where will my tasting consultation be held?
We’ve always held our tasting consultations at our cake studio in Maidstone, Kent. This means every potential couple can get a real idea as to how we work…even see the kitchen (5* rated) where your wedding cake will be made, if you wish.
Being inside our cake studio means you can see our latest designs up close, understand the size of wedding cake you would like and yes, even touch the sugar flowers.
What can I taste?
This is the most important part of your wedding cake tasting consultation. You get to try a selection of our delicious homemade cakes and macarons.
Did you know, you can have a different flavour on every tier? We include up to five flavours from our menu, which are baked from scratch plus a mini selection of handmade macarons. Enjoying all this with a glass of Bucks Fizz makes your tasting consultation even more special.
Why do I need to make an appointment?
By ensuring that your tasting consultation is appointment only means that we can spend as much time as you need to guide you through the design process and answer any and every question you can think of.
Why do you charge for my tasting consultation?
We bake all of our cakes and macarons from scratch for your tasting consultation and prepare ideas for your wedding cake based on what we may have discussed already on the phone, which takes quite a bit of preparation….as well as making sure our Maidstone cake studio is looking extra glamorous for your visit!
Remember your tasting consultation fee is immediately redeemed against your wedding cake when you order.
You will meet either Erica and Charlie, who are the mother and daughter team behind Bluebell Kitchen, so you can put a face to a name of your wedding cake designer. They will also be your main contact throughout your wedding cake planning process.
We’ll explain exactly what you can expect from us once you order, how we produce our quotes, when you can expect your sketch and how we work with your wedding venue. Most importantly, we’ll always be at the end of a phone or email to answer any questions you might have.
Six to eight weeks before your wedding we’ll contact you to reconfirm all of your wedding cake details.
I can’t attend a Tasting Consultation Weekend, what can I do?
No problem! If you can’t join us in person, we can arrange to post a selection of six of our most popular cake flavours or five of our most popular macaron flavours by Special Delivery to you. We send taster boxes at the beginning of each month.
At the same time we’ll arrange a telephone or FaceTime consultation with you to discuss all of your ideas in detail. If we can’t meet in person it’s the next best thing so that you can still get a real sense of us and our wedding cake service, and we can learn about you and your dream wedding cake!
We think that your wedding cake tasting consultation is the best part of your wedding planning…after all is there any other time in your life when you can have a glass of Buck Fizz and eat cake at 10 o’clock in the morning?
