Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a wedding or party comes with a lot of decisions, but ordering your cake or macarons shouldn’t be a stressful one. Below are some of the questions we get asked the most – if there’s anything else you’re wondering, just ask. We’re always happy to help.

Wedding Cakes

How far in advance should we order our wedding cake?

We recommend booking your wedding cake or macaron tower at least 6–9 months in advance of your date. Some couples like to secure their booking up to 2 years ahead – perfect if you’re planning ahead.

If your wedding is just around the corner and you’ve suddenly realised you haven’t found the one (cake-wise, that is), don’t panic. We can occasionally accommodate last-minute requests, so it’s always worth getting in touch.

Can we have different flavours for each tier?

Absolutely – and we highly recommend it!

We have a delicious menu to choose from, but if there’s something you’re dreaming of that’s not on the list, just ask. We’re always open to creating a bespoke flavour that’s totally yours (please note there may be additional charges for this).

Please have a look at our mouth watering wedding cake menu to choose your favourites.

What size should our wedding cake be?

Here’s a little slice of advice we love to share with our couples: plan to serve around 75%–80% of your total guest numbers.  It might sound surprising, but not everyone always takes a slice (hard to believe we know!)

Gone are the days of sad, forgotten cake. These days, guests want to eat the cake – and they remember the good ones. If you’re wondering just how much to order or still hearing those “no one eats wedding cake” rumours, we’ve lovingly debunked the myths in our blog post “Does anyone eat wedding cake: crumbling the myths.

We’re always here to help you plan out the perfect wedding cake size

Can you add fresh flowers to our wedding cake?

We don’t add fresh flowers to your cake. Many fresh flowers, even those that look lovely, are toxic or unsuitable for food contact.

We offer exquisite handmade sugar flowers and/ or silk florals, that are just as breathtaking (if not more so). Our sugar flowers won’t wilt, they last a lifetime, and best of all your imagination is the only limit.

Sugar flower wedding cakes are something of a specialist subject for us and here’s our blog with our 5 Top Tips to Choosing Your Sweet Showstopping Stems

Where are you based and will you deliver our wedding cake?

We have a home based studio in Maidstone, Kent, which means we’re perfectly placed to deliver throughout the South East, including London, Essex, Surrey, Sussex, and of course, all over Kent.

We personally deliver and set up every wedding cake to ensure everything is perfect on the day. Our inclusive delivery and setup service covers venues within 20 miles of our Maidstone studio.

If your venue is outside of that 20 mile radius, we’ll include any additional delivery charges clearly in your proposal – no hidden extras, just crystal-clear cake planning.

Do you cater for guests with special dietary requirements?

We do our best to ensure everyone can enjoy a slice of something delicious!

We are able to make cakes for couples and their guests with intolerances or for dietary preferences, but we do not cater for clients or guests with severe allergies as our kitchen is not a certified allergy free work space.

Macarons

What size macaron tower should we choose?

We suggest 1–2 macarons per guest.   Macarons are naturally so light with surprisingly punchy flavours, making them an exquisite treat without feeling overly indulgent.  Once guests try one, they often come back for another and another.

Whether you’re having a petite gathering or a grand celebration, we’ll help you choose the perfect tower size to suit your day.  Please do have a read of our blog All your Macaron Wedding Cake questions: answered

Does the colour of our macarons have to match the flavours?

Not at all. You can go wild with your colour choices, mixing and matching tones that complement your wedding theme.

You can choose everything from pastel blue macarons with a zesty lemon buttercream ganache to dusky pink macarons filled with a rich chocolate ganache, to name a few.  The joy of macarons is all about creativity and having fun with your design and flavours.
