Five Reasons you’ll want to attend our in person cake school

You can learn to bake by attending a cake class in person, online or both.  Our expertise at our in person cake school in Maidstone, Kent is creating macarons and handmade sugar flowers.

Writing this in Spring 2020, whilst in lockdown, we don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to meet with everyone again in person and join the gym, attend a cake class or even go to theatre!  Yes, everything can be adapted to online living (who else has been trying out Joe Wicks’ PE lessons on Youtube), but there is nothing like experiencing the class or event in person!

Looking forward to the Autumn and when our next classes are ready and waiting for you…here are five reasons you’ll want to attend our cake school.

1  In Person Classes

Personalised.  That’s how we describe our classes.

By actually attending our classes in person you’ll get personal attention.  This is the whole reason that we set up our cake school.  Online classes are great (we’ve done them ourselves) but there are times when you need to get your “hands dirty” and you just can’t understand how to make something no matter how many times you watch the demo.

Attending our cake classes at our studio in Maidstone, Kent means that we can break down each part of the “make” e.g. how to roll the flower paste to the exact thinness so that you can make the most realistic rose petal or exactly how to pipe that perfect round macaron.

2  Small Group Classes

Did we mention we have a maximum of four students in our adult classes and up to six in our parent and child classes.

Why such small classes?  You’ll get almost one to one attention as each class has one teacher and one assistant.  This means if you are struggling with something you’ll get instant feedback and help.  You’ll also get all the cake chat you need and support from your fellow students…surely the best bit about any class you attend!

We pride ourselves on the fact that everyone in the class will go away after a few hours having achieved an amazing amount.

3  Specialist skills

Have you found that during lockdown you’ve wanted to try out new bakes and experiment with flavours…if you’ve managed to find flour and eggs anywhere that is.  How about taking these to the next level?

Our cake classes specialise in learning specific cake and macaron skills so that we can pass on our expertise in patisserie and sugar flowers to you.

Our Introduction to Macarons is not simply a demo class.  This is a full on BAKING class.  You’ll learn every stage of making delicious macarons from mixing, testing our unique fast way to dry the macarons (an integral step) and of course baking them.

You’ll receive a breakdown of how to recreate the techniques at home.  Remember we’re ready to answer any follow up questions by phone or email after the class so you’ll always receive ongoing support.

This is true for every class.  You’re not only learning how to create sugar flowers from scratch but just as importantly how to safely, and of course beautifully, display them on your cake.

4  Cake classes aimed at you whether you’re a beginner or an expert

What experience do I need?  Probably one of the first things you’ll ask before signing up to any course.

If you’re a beginner, but don’t know your sugar paste from your flower paste or your macaron from your macaroon, no problem.  Our classes are small, taught almost one to one so that we can aim them at your experience.

Already made macarons and want to level up your skills and baking techniques then our more advanced patisserie desserts class of Gourmet Macarons experimenting with different styles and finishes is for you.
