After blousy summer wedding seasons tinged with the fresh fizz of long, light days and bright and breezy design, in rolls Autumn with its unmissable signature charm. Mid-late Autumn weddings are more popular than ever, in part due to the atmospheric change in mood accompanying the change of season. We love this time of year. The feeling of Autumn is unlike that of any other time of year. Mother nature graces us with a natural richness of colour that makes the most incredible backdrop and inspiration. If you’re planning your celebrations and are thinking about next year’s Autumn wedding cake, we’ve got you covered; delicate drama, bold sugar flowers and a quirky display are about to be served!
Perfect colour for an Autumn wedding cake
We were delighted to work with Jessica of Style It Events on her photoshoot. She aimed to creatively demonstrate how layers of colour can bring a fresh take to Autumn weddings. The warm, cosy colours of Autumn were embraced; fire and rust, tangerine and living coral. There wasn’t a pumpkin in sight. We also embraced a sprinkling of peach-fuzz pink and some brighter tones. Bringing in the colours and atmosphere of our natural surroundings is a beautiful way to embrace the season with your Autumn wedding cake. Whether you’re lucky enough to get married under that blissful Autumn sunshine or you choose to recreate that inside a venue.
Autumn weddings with warmth and joy
Autumn’s signature shade of orange, radiates warmth, joy and optimism – just what you want on your wedding day! You can immerse yourselves and your guests in this feeling by curating a wedding vision that is cohesive across all elements. It’s really important to us when designing your bespoke wedding cake that we collaborate with your other suppliers, and we often ask for details of your florist and floral design as well as your bridal outfit. This ensures that your cake harmoniously becomes part of the overall look for your wedding, and is demonstrated perfectly here.
Styling your Autumn wedding cake
Texture played a vital role in this shoot, from the rugged backdrop provided by Chiddingstone Castle to the glorious embroidered wedding dress from Bowen Dryden. We designed the sugar flowers on this autumn wedding cake to echo those of the dress, and to seamlessly blend with the moody, muted florals from Bryony Mae Flowers. We also included delicate floral texturing to add depth and compliment the bold sugar flowers, on a backdrop of subtle dusty pink marbling.
The final piece of the puzzle to make this Autumn wedding cake stand out from the crowd was the display. We’re always talking about doing your cake justice and displaying it in a way that makes it part of the day as opposed to an add-on, and this editorial style shoot really won the day as far as we’re concerned! The unique swing set up was such a focal point. Incorporating something like this at your wedding is a sure way to make sure nobody misses your bespoke designed cake. We also included some of our gourmet macarons as inspiration for favours.
