Some days you get to step into a storybook and create a scene that feels truly magical. That was exactly the feeling for this romantic styled shoot at Chilston Park. Inspired by French château weddings, we were part of the team creating an intimate late summer celebration, complete with a vintage heart Lambeth wedding cake and handmade macarons to bring the vision to life.
It was a chance to explore colours, textures and moments that couples dreaming of a romantic, playful outdoor wedding at Chilston Park might love. From the warm sunlight streaming over the gardens to the gentle rustle of summer leaves, every detail was designed to tell a story. After all Kent isn’t known as the garden of England for nothing.

Late Summer Magic at Chilston Park
Chilston Park in late summer has a quiet, almost enchanting glow. The gardens are softened into warm greens and blush tones. Working closely with a wonderful team of Kent based wedding design specialists, we imagined our styled couple exchanging vows outdoors, framed by floral columns and French style urns overflowing with blooms in soft blush and green.
A fountain trickled gently nearby, its water catching the sunlight and sparkling across the stone courtyard. The scent of roses and peonies drifted on the warm breeze, creating a timeless, romantic backdrop perfect for highlighting the wedding cake and other unique details.

Styling Inspiration at Chilston Park with a Touch of French Macarons
Coordinated by Georgia Barbara Events and Weddings by Lisa-Marie, we created a long banquet table in the garden, layered with green floral linens, gilded cutlery, crystal glassware and tall taper candles. Floral compotes tumbled with pink and green blooms, spilling onto the table as if caught in a gentle breeze.

We made delicate, hand painted macarons served as favours with their sweet almond scent hinting at the cake to come. Macaron wedding favours in the form of place settings have been around on the wedding scene for a while. However, we are now seeing a shift from simple favour boxes of macarons to hand painted, personalised macarons instead as we created here. We wanted to ensure that the floral detail on each macaron complemented the gorgeous real floral display designed by Donna Ripley Flowers. The scene was designed to show couples how effortless dining and slow conversation can feel under a summer sky, with every little detail adding warmth, colour and intimacy. Riviera vibes anyone?
Wedding Cake Details: A Vintage Heart in Peach Melba
The star of the shoot (in our opinion) was a single tier vintage heart Lambeth wedding cake in soft peach melba tones. We created delicate details across its surface and topped it with a trio of macarons, a playful nod to French pâtisserie.

The couple cut into their Lambeth cake revealing a blush pink sponge inside, which made it very unusual. The subtle scent of peaches and raspberry made it feel almost alive! If there’s one thing we’ve learnt, a stunning design will get people talking, but it’s the flavour that’ll keep them raving. Peach Melba is our signature summer flavour that we’ve spent a long time perfecting. We really believe it’s a solid contender for the best wedding cake flavour of all time (in our opinion). It’s chosen again and again as a favourite. It has that light citrusy feel, but is unusual enough to make you feel that you have chosen something unique just for the two of you.
Your wedding cake cutting moment
You can see by the couple’s faces just how fun your cake cutting moment should be. In fact the generous tasting that followed said it all. The late summer light streaming in made the moment feel warm, fun and completely alive. This is exactly the kind of memory we hope every couple feels when they marry.

Your cake cutting moment photo is one of our absolute favourites to see. We love it when it’s full to the brim with laughter adding a little touch of whimsy to your celebration. In fact at Joyce and Matt’s magical wedding at Cooling Castle, their Master of Ceremony called a spontaneous “cake photo session,”
