There’s something a little magical about macaron making in our humble opinion. The crisp shells, the chewy centres, the silky ganache or buttercream and that satisfying moment when your homemade macarons look (and taste!) like something straight out of a Parisian patisserie.
At Bluebell Kitchen in Maidstone, Kent, our Introduction to Macarons class is designed to take you from “never touched a piping bag” to “look what I made!” in just a few hours with no previous baking experience needed.
Whether you’ve struggled to get them right at home or you’re completely new to baking, this is a chance to roll up your sleeves and master the art of macaron making in a relaxed, small-group setting.

What’s Included in Our Macaron Making Class?
Our class is 3 to 3.5 hours long from 10 am – 1.30 pm, giving everyone an opportunity to ask questions as the class is going on, so no one feels rushed at any stage. With a maximum of 4 students per class, there’s plenty of time to practice techniques, and get individual support throughout.
When you arrive at our home-based studio in Maidstone, we’ll welcome you with coffee or tea and a quick chat about the plan for the day. After a health & safety intro, it’s aprons on and time to bake.
You don’t need to bring anything except your enthusiasm. We provide everything including ingredients, recipe sheets, tips and troubleshooting guides, and a welcome pack full of buttercream and ganache recipes (plus plenty of space to jot down notes).

Step-by-Step Macaron Making: What You’ll Learn
Our teaching style is totally hands-on as we demonstrate each stage first, and then support you to try it for yourself. You’ll learn the Italian method for macaron making, which involves creating a hot sugar syrup and combining it with whipped egg whites to make a stable meringue.
Here’s just some of what you’ll do during the class:
- Mix, colour and pipe your macaron batter
- Learn the why behind every step from sugar temperatures to macaronage texture
- Bake your own batch of macaron shells
- Make and flavour your own buttercream
- Taste-test ganache and learn how to adapt fillings to your preference
- Decorate and assemble your finished macarons
You’ll leave with a box of your own hand-made, hand-decorated macarons (plus a few extra shells to practise at home), and the confidence to recreate them in your own kitchen.

Our Favourite Part? The “Wow, I Did It!” Moment
Macarons aren’t easy (we won’t pretend otherwise!) but with the right support and guidance, they become completely achievable. And that moment when a student opens the oven door and sees their macarons rising perfectly? Pure joy.
Some students come nervous to try. Others have attempted macarons at home with no success. But they always leave smiling with a box of their own macarons in hand, excited to bake again.
Jenny – “Thank you so much for your time and sharing all of your tips, it was such a lovely morning. I didn’t feel rushed and both Erica and Charlie were very patient. Very clear instructions and I could ask questions at any time.”
Tan – “Throughly enjoyed the morning, thank you so much and I feel a new baking addiction coming on. Everything was brilliant!”
Lita – “Amazing teachers, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I will have to come back to join another Class”
