Bluebell Kitchen will be creating mini edible cupcakes for an invitation only party for 200 authors, publishers and supporters on the evening of Saturday 12 July as part of the first Young Adult Literary Convention (YALC).
Curated by Children’s Laureate, Malorie Blackman, YALC 2014 is taking place on July 12th and 13th as part of London Film and Comic Con 2014 at Earls Court.
Bluebell Kitchen is run by mother and daughter team, Erica and Charlie Bell who’s motto is “cakes baked with love.” Based in Maidstone in Kent, Erica and Charlie travel all over the South East designing and baking cakes for weddings, birthdays and corporate events.
This is not the first time that Bluebell Kitchen has worked on a literary event. Erica and Charlie first baked their mini edible book cupcakes in 2013 for An Evening with Cassandra Clare at Waterstones, then were immediately asked back to provide cakes for the launch of “More Than This” by Patrick Ness. He even tweeted about them!
This was closely followed by World Book Day in March of this year.
Erica explains: “Having made our mini edible book cupcakes for World Book Day and the Writes of Passage teen event in March this year, creating cakes for such a high profile convention seemed the natural next step. In fact, it is very exciting to be involved in the very first YALC!”
Charlie adds: “This is the perfect opportunity to combine my favourite things…reading and baking (oh, and eating) cakes. We are thrilled to be involved.”
Anyway, before the team get to YALC 2014, they have a few more wedding cakes to squeeze in so back to baking they must go.
