London Wedding Cake – Susan & Andrew’s Landmark Hotel Wedding Cake

Smiling bride and groom at the entrance of The Landmark Hotel, London

We can hardly believe how the 2023 wedding season is marching on, and today we’re reflecting on our very first Spring wedding cake design of the year back in March. It was a real pleasure to work on Susan and Andrew’s Landmark Hotel wedding cake for their intimate 25-guest celebration, and we want to share it with you in all its golden glory!

Landmark Hotel wedding cake preferred supplier

Susan and Andrew contacted us in January, after finding us through the Landmark’s recommended supplier list. We love working at the luxury Marylebone Road hotel, and have provided wedding cakes for several smaller, ‘micro’ style weddings there in the past. The wedding planners at the Landmark loved their cake tasting box, perhaps that’s why we keep being invited back!

The Tower Suite at The Landmark Hotel

The location of choice for Susan and Andrew’s Landmark Hotel wedding cake was in prime position in the dining room of the Tower Suite on the fifth floor. The room is plush and elegant, overlooking the champagne bar, winter garden restaurant and palm tree gallery, and is the perfect place for an intimate wedding. With this in mind, the cake needed to exude chic luxury, but with a big ‘wow’ factor.

Gorgeous gold show stopper

Originally, Susan and Andrew discussed having a two tier cake because of their guest numbers. After spending some time chatting about designs and looking at our portfolio, they decided to opt for a statement three tier design.  This ensured that guests could take some home with them too. We designed a gorgeous gold showstopper, featuring a shimmering spun gold middle tier and topped with hand painted gold pattern work on the top. They described it as classic and stylishly understated, but with ‘wow’!

We included a selection of our signature sugar flowers.  All handmade to complement Susan’s wedding florals in soft pinks and purples, with accents of ivory and green foliage. The whole cake worked beautifully in the neutral toned room, and together with the Landmark we advised on the best positioning to do the overall vision justice.

In Susan and Andrew’s own words…

We asked Susan and Andrew to tell us about their experience working with us on their wedding cake.  Here’s what they said about the entire cake being eaten between the 25 guests!

The help and support provided to us by Bluebell Kitchen was par excellence. Every step was punctuated by carefully thought out touches, from…understanding the ‘why’ regarding our decisions, to beautiful presentation, wrapping, bespoke cards wishing us well and checking our progress every step of our journey. Erica recommended a florist to us as we struggled to find one…and they were wonderful in understanding our requests’.
