Kent Wedding Cake – A Bradbourne House Wedding in Kent

Just Married - Bridal couple walking into the grounds of Bradbourne House having just got married and family throwing confetti at them

As a preferred wedding cake supplier to Bradbourne House, we’ve been looking forward to featuring Freya and Harry’s wedding on the blog.  It combines so many things we love about our job: working with wonderful couples who are a joy to meet, spending time at beautiful venues and collaborating with other talented vendors to perfect the all-important details. Here’s the story of Freya and Harry’s magnificent marbled Bradbourne House wedding cake with delicate sugar flower detailing…

Inspiration for Freya & Harry’s Bradbourne House Wedding Cake

We met Freya and Harry for an in-person consultation at our studio in Kent, and right from the off we knew they were a lovely, genuine couple who are so loved by their friends and family. We talked through some design options and they were inspired by a cake we had previously designed for a photoshoot. You can see the moreish muse on Junebug Weddings! This cake has been something of a trendsetter among our couples, and was the one that got us to fall in love with hand painting the delicate marble effect. We tend to find that our couples choose softer colours than the popping peach tones of the original, and Freya and Harry did exactly that.

For this wedding cake we worked with different elements of their overall wedding aesthetic to ensure the sweet treats were in harmony with the overall vision for the day. Freya and Harry’s Bradbourne House wedding was elegant and elevated, featuring neutral colour brought to life with dusky pinks and eucalyptus tones. We collaborated closely with their florist, Charlie at Colonnade Flowers, who kindly sent us their mood board. The delicate sugar flowers we made to adorn the cake were matched to their glorious blooms, inspired by airy white roses and peonies in palest peach, contrasted beautifully with chocolate cosmos the colour of deep velvet and zesty amaranthus. Don’t underestimate how helpful it is for us to work alongside your florist! Seeing the exact tones, textures and varieties in your fresh florals can help us to elevate the sugar flowers even further.

Harry & Freya’s Favourite Flavours

Freya and Harry told us one of their favourite things about their in-person consultation was getting to taste some of our flavour options – though we always post out wedding cake samples if you can’t get to our studio! It was important to them that the cake tasted home made but looked and felt high end, and we’re proud to say they left feeling this box had been ticked. Our range of wedding cake flavours has been developed and perfected with tablespoons of love and attention, and we like to think you can taste the difference.

For their Bradbourne House wedding cake, Freya and Harry settled on different flavours for each tier: Raspberry Fizz, with its melt-in-the-mouth Madagascan vanilla sponge and sparkling Prosecco-infused jam; Luscious Lemon, a citrus classic swirled with Sicilian lemon curd; and Salted Caramel, gooey and fluffy and sweet in all the right ways. We loved that their choices balanced fresh and fruity with a little bit of indulgence, because there was a flavour to suit almost every guest!

They also chose to add macaron wedding favours for their Bradbourne House wedding, and they opted for two flavours: summer berry, featuring all the flavours of the hedgerow packed into our homemade jam, and punchy passionfruit and mango. We packaged them into clear gift boxes and finished them with a hand-tied ribbon, perfectly tantalising treats for their nearest and dearest.
