Kent Wedding Macaron Tower at The Orangery: An Alternative Wedding Cake for Emma and Daniel

If you’re looking for an alternative wedding cake that will make your guests’ jaws drop, we’ve got the perfect solution: a macaron tower. And don’t just take it from us! Take it from Emma and Daniel, and their stunning wedding macaron tower at The Orangery in Maidstone, Kent.

A summery yellow colour palette

From the start, Emma and Daniel knew they wanted to incorporate yellow into their wedding at The Orangery and especially into their centrepiece wedding macaron tower.  Emma’s favourite colour is yellow so they highlighted it throughout the day, from her gorgeous bridesmaids’ dresses to Daniel’s dapper tie.

It was also the main focal colour in her wedding flowers, which had sunflowers and daisies as the prominent flowers. Daniel and his groomsmen each had a sunflower head as a buttonhole, while Emma’s bouquet was a beautiful arrangement of gypsophila studded with statement blooms. Acting as a wedding cake topper, a perfectly placed trio of sunflowers sat atop their wedding macaron tower.  A stunning selection of these flowers also encircled the base.  All set up as centrepiece design in the bright and airy orangery setting.

Ombré Wedding Macaron Tower

Initially, they planned to incorporate different shades of yellow into their macarons, alongside ivory and navy too, which were their complementary wedding colours. However, once they saw our ombré wedding macaron tower designs they knew that was the stylish traditional wedding cake alternative they wanted instead.

We jumped at the chance of creating a yellow ombré colour way for their wedding macaron tower at The Orangery.  It was so different to the popular dusky pink ombré macaron towers we’d recently made. We love the way it came out and are so grateful to Emma and Daniel for trusting us to bring it to life!

The Orangery Wedding Macaron Tower

Emma and Daniel chose an elegant alternative to the traditional wedding cake.  They didn’t know that it would be a macaron tower specifically…until they met us!

“We knew we wanted something different to your normal wedding ‘cake’,” Emma explains, “and when we tasted your macarons, that was the winner!”

Their wedding macaron tower might have looked amazing; but it also tasted incredible too.  Just like our cakes, we’re really proud to say we make macarons that taste just as delicious as they look divine. Flavour was really important to Emma and Daniel.  They chose a tasty trio of light, luscious lemon (filled with a rich lemon curd and lemon buttercream), salted caramel for the super sweet-toothed guests, and a peanut butter and jam flavour for something a little different.

They also wanted to have fun with their wedding macaron tower. To surprise their wedding guests when they took a bite, we mixed the flavours up across the tiers instead of arranging them in their groups.  This was a fun, fancy, flavourful lucky dip!

The Orangery – one of our favourite Kent wedding venues

As Maidstone locals we have our fair share of beautiful venues on our doorstep, but perhaps none as stunning as The Orangery. Located right in the heart of Maidstone, you won’t believe your eyes when you walk through the wrought-iron gates. Nine acres of gorgeous landscaped gardens make it feel like a private oasis.

Emma and Daniel’s wedding date was a sublime summer’s day.  This meant that they could get married outside in the venue’s newest ceremony space: the thatched Lapa overlooking the lake. (Oh yes, did we mention? The Orangery has its own private lake and tumbling waterfall too, as you do).  Being able to work at one of our favourite venues again was yet another cherry on top of the cake (or should we say, another macaron on top of the tower) for Emma and Daniel’s The Orangery wedding.
